TExTOUR's heritage

TExTOUR is an EU-funded project that co-designs pioneering and sustainable cultural tourism strategies to improve deprived areas in Europe and beyond.

But what do we mean by cultural tourism?
Goto first page
Cultural tourism is about managing cultural heritage and tourism in an integrated way. It involves working with local communities to create benefits for everyone involved, helping to preserve both tangible and intangible cultural heritage while developing tourism. Throughout its four years, TExTOUR has always pursued one goal: to improve deprived areas in Europe and beyond. To achieve this, it established Cultural Tourism Labs at eight pilot locations, both within the EU and beyond.

In our journey to preserve cultural heritage, we have created a heritage of our own: a legacy of ideas, strategies, and resources for sustainable tourism. Discover our "heritage," explore it, cherish it, and make it part of your journey to sustainable tourism.

Next steps

Cultural heritage constantly evolves, passing from hand to hand, enriched with new stories and meanings. The same goes for the TExTOUR methodology: it continues to develop and adapt, replicating the heritage and ensuring it can be continuously leveraged.
